Spirits in New Hope, PA

The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm is the perfect place to getaway. We encourage you to join us daily for our wine and cheese hour to savor some of the best flavors of the local area. If you’d like more, visit a Bucks County winery, brewery, or distillery while staying with us. This is a great opportunity to get up close with some of our favorite local craftsman. Since dinner at our restaurant is BYOB, pick up a bottle to bring back with you.

Wineries

Wine enthusiasts visiting The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm will love the wines offered at our nearby wineries, many of which are within 15 minutes driving time of the inn. For a guided experience, you may enjoy the Bucks County Wine Trail and map. There are nine wineries along the trail, so it’s wise to plan ahead for transportation between the wineries and back to our New Hope Inn.

Some wineries we highly recommend:

Alfa & Omega Winery – A family owned winery that crafts artisan European wines and offers free wine tastings.

Buckingham Valley Vineyards – Wine tastings are only $5 per person on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the winery still offers free tastings during the week. They use old-world methods to create their wines with today’s state of the art equipment. If you want the range of light white to dark reds, this is the winery to visit. The winery is closed Monday, but open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Chaddsford Winery – Located in Peddler’s Village, enjoy tastings and wine flights of their fresh and fruity consumer friendly wines or their rich red varietals that has helped establish their place in the industry for the past 30 years. You may try samples at the Tasting Bar or participate in a guided Reserve Wine Tasting for $12 that features three whites and three reds.

Crossing Vineyards and Winery – Since 2002, this winery has produced award winning wines and offers tastings daily from noon to 6 p.m. They also offer private tastings with a certified wine educator for groups with advanced reservations.

New Hope Winery – Settled instead in a rustic 18th century barn, this winery and tasting room offers classic whites and reds, but also includes a few specialty wines such as its Dutch Apple Spice, Strawberry, or Blackberry. The winery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sand Castle Winery – Opened in 2007, Sand Castle Winery is a delight for the palate and the eyes with a unique castle exterior and world class wines. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with tastings for $10 per person. Visitors may also take a tour of the cellar and taste for $15.

Wycombe Vineyards & Winery – Part of the Bucks County Wine Trail, the tasting room is open from noon to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday and tasting fees may apply.

Breweries

If you’re after a beverage with a bit more hop, we’re close to unique and craft breweries as well. Many of our local breweries are connected to restaurants making it an easy tour and dinner combination. Most of the breweries listed below are within a 30 minute drive:

River Horse – Just across the river in New Jersey is River Horse Brewery. Offering tours every Saturday and Sunday that start at a quarter after the hour, from 12:15 to 4:15, with reservations required. Tours are $5 per person and a tour is required to try four 4 oz. samples.

Triumph Brewing –Both a brewery and restaurant with a variety of brews on tap and a menu comprised of local and sustainable ingredient based dishes.

Vault Brewing Company – Every Saturday at 1 p.m. you can take a free tour of the brewery. Or for $5 you can add on a full beer tasting and a souvenir Vault glass.

Distilleries

For those with beverage tastes with a bit more spirit, we recommend visiting and tasting at our nearby Bucks County distilleries. The first distillery, Dad’s Hat, opened in 2010 and was then followed by Hewn Spirits in 2014. Both distilleries are within driving distance of our inn.

Dad’s Hat – Less than an hour away is Dad’s Hat Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey. By appointment, you can book a one-hour tour of the distillery for just $10 and then enjoy a whiskey tasting at the facility. Appointments are available on most Saturdays.

Hewn Spirits – 20 minutes away from our inn is Hewn Spirits in Bucks County. The tasting room is open Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and they offer private tours and parties. They craft gold rum, moonshine, and whiskey.
