Wedding Wow!

"This is going to sound more like a love letter than a review, but I hope this helps you understand how amazing this place is. My husband and I got married here, and I cannot imagine doing it any other way! Firstly, the property gives you the perfect amount of luxury retreat and cozy home. You can enjoy the fresh air in the garden or snuggle up by the fireplace in your room. All the rooms are named after plays by George Kauffman, lending each one its own decor and style. Comfort and amenities are guaranteed in all. As a bride, I stayed in "The Man Who Came To Dinner" and loved everything from the view to the jacuzzi tub. Secondly, by staying at the inn, you get the best breakfast and dinner. Every meal gets high scores for ingredients, presentation, and the ability to help you easily achieve the clean plate club. Furthermore, you get wine & cheese from 4-5pm! Luckily I was with friends and family who shouldn't judge me for standing next to the cheese the whole hour. Lastly, the people at this inn are incredible. I think I told everyone that I love him or her by the time I left. The staff are attentive, lovely, and really do care about your stay. This is certainly a testament to how the owners, Mark and Deena, operate and work. If you are thinking of having your wedding here, Mark helps you get set up and is so patient, especially if you have a lot of questions like me! Once you've locked in a date, Deena and Debra take over to help you step by step to organize your perfect wedding day. Whatever you need, these ladies are on it! FYI - they told me they can't control 2 things: my guests and weather. But I'm pretty sure they made a special deal for me! The only time it stopped raining that weekend was on my wedding day! Moral of the story: don't think twice about it, book it, and you won't regret it. "

What an amazing brunch !

"I was asked where I wanted to go for a special birthday and I immediately chose brunch instead of dinner & chose the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm! The scrumptious menu, so hard to choice from, the beautiful glass enclosed room with gorgeous flowers outside, the royal treatment you receive from the staff - PERFECTION! I After wonderful little breads, a mimosa and a start of Greek Yogurt with fresh fruit parfait, I chose eggs Benedict with salmon - all were wonderful. Then they come and ask you what else you want to have! What a delightful and enjoyable time."

Home Away From Home

"I grew up in the area and Barley Sheaf Farm is truly my home away from home when returning for family visits. I have stayed at the Inn a number of times over the past few years and it is always a lovely experience. Owners Mark and Deena and staff are doing a superb job and treat me like family. The Inn is a unique and historic property that is hard to surpass. I highly recommend it."

Thank you!!!!!

"My wife recently was diagnosed - My wife recently was diagnosed with celiac disease. At the BS she was treated so gracefully, nothing was overlooked in dealing with what she could and couldn't have. This has been the only restaurant we feel comfortable and safe coming to because they are very knowledgeable about the disease."

What a Find!

"What a find! We have passed - What a find! We have passed by this beautiful spot tucked back off of busy York Road yet never ate here before. The Inn is charming and the grounds are lovely. Our server was Pat and he was excellent. We enjoyed a fresh beet salad and the interesting tête du porc. The light arugula gnocchi was excellent. Our entrees were the duck and a halibut cassoulet, both very good. Dessert was a chocolate dish with a pretzel ice cream, yum! Can't wait to try the Inn again."

AMAZING

"My fiance and I had dinner at the Inn on our anniversary this past February and were so blown away by the amazing food, service, and overall character of Barley Sheaf Farm, that we booked our wedding here for the Fall of 2018! Mark and Deena, the owners of the Inn, are more than accommodating and go the extra mile for all of their guests to ensure the best quality of service. I am all about the personal experience and Mark and Deena provide just that. They make each guest feel special and at home. Needless to say we will be back again, probably multiple times, before our wedding next year. I recommend the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm to anyone and everyone! "

"I can’t say enough about this wonderful experience. Stepping into this B&B was like stepping into a Chateau, so full of charm and warmth. Staff was amazing and completely accommodating. My first time here was with my boyfriend and his family for breakfast. The food was delicious and dining room had picturesque views of the grounds. We were given a tour of each room in the Manor House plus the cottage and barn house. Each room had its unique style and decor which I absolutely loved. We were so taken by this place my boyfriend and I went back for a pre-Valentine’s Day 6 course dinner with wine paring. I am a vegetarian and they we able to adjust the menu to fit my needs. An absolute must, I'm a picky girl from NYC and it totally won me over."

"I spent the weekend at the inn for an event and had a wonderful time. The service was first rate, the food was "out of this world" and the accommodations were amazing. The rooms are beautifully decorated with nice views of the countryside. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer inn to spend a special weekend or to celebrate a wedding."

"The Inn was gorgeous with wonderfully cared for grounds and the service was graciously friendly but not at all intrusive. The moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and the antique charm and character of the Inn was comfortable and relaxing. We had an amazing dinner in the restaurant with fresh farm to table menu items followed by complimentary dessert candies. Our room was clean, well-appointed and the double Jacuzzi tub was just perfect. I cannot think of anything about our stay that I would change, everything was lovely."

"My company rented the entire property for a company retreat. I checked out the Inn online after the arrangements were made and thought it looked nice enough. However, upon our arrival, I was really blown away and couldn't believe we were being treated to such a stately and elegant experience. The long approach down the driveway really sets the stage. We were met by a picturesque fountain (complete with cherubs) and a beautiful Manor House that is in perfect harmony with the surrounding area (which is a much more interesting corner of the Northeast than I've ever seen). We were all assigned different rooms and later discovered (on a room-by-room company tour) that each one is special in its own way. My room, Dancing in the Dark, made me feel like Marie Antoinette. If I came back, I'd love to stay in Hello Sweetheart, with its cave-like bathroom, which was the envy of our group. The pastoral grounds are absolutely dreamy and the pair of on-site miniature horses were adorable. We loved the pool and the meadow behind the barn where we did a group improv activity. Dinner was served to us in the dining room and the food and service were both exquisite. Scallops, duck breast, halibut, lamb... there was something for everyone (including the vegans). Presentation was beautiful and we all left very satisfied. My only complaint was the lack of ghosts for such an old and historic place. I had been hoping for a haunting, alas, got a perfectly undisturbed night of sleep. Also, it is really a very romantic setting, which was perhaps wasted on us as bunch of colleagues. Based on the in-suite guest journals, The Barley Sheaf is an no-brainer when it comes to an anniversary destination. I would love to go back for my own."

"I cannot recommend Barley Sheaf highly enough! My daughter's wedding reception was held there on Sunday, August 17, 2014. The barn is a fabulously gorgeous venue for eating (food was delicious! Could not get enough of the brisket!), dancing, and conversation. We were extremely fortunate to have outstanding weather, so the outside seating and lawn areas were filled with our guests and the little children who attended. The room where the bridal party prepared for the wedding (The Man Who Came to Dinner) was so lovely! Three big rooms plus a balcony, and my daughter and son-in-law had the most fabulous breakfast the next morning. I have also eaten at the Barley Sheaf on several occasions other than this wedding. The food is impeccable. Portions are small but absolutely outstanding. It's also BYOB, so that makes me happy:) The scenery, the service, the food, the rooms are beyond excellent."

Have your wedding here. Simple as that!

"The Barley Sheaf is unbelievable...the gorgeous grounds, the stunning rooms, the most delicious farm to table food. The staff truly go above and beyond, making our wedding day seamless for us, and very special for our guests. It was an absolute dream, and I want to return for every anniversary!!"

Truly lovely experience...

"...in every way. The environment is beautiful, the food is wonderful, but what makes the place so special are the owners...who treat guests like family and are on top of every detail. This place is a gem."

A great treat

"There were four of us for dinner. We had appetizers and main courses. For the appetizers we had grilled romaine salad, grilled octopus and pea soup. They were all delicious. For our main courses we had lamb, turbot and duck. All of the courses were presented beautifully and everything was artfully decorated on our plates. Each dish was meticulously presented and extremely well done. The flavors were all in balance and everything was cooked to perfection. The standout was the lamb. To end they brought a collection of sweet morsels that included doughnuts, Carmela and marshmallow puffs. All in all a treat in a beautiful setting."

Pennsylvania Perfection

"We were at the Inn for a wedding. The owners are very hospitable and clearly love what they do. As a result, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and, because each one is different and decorated in its own style using antiques, interesting. The food is farm to fork and delicious. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. This is a perfect place for an evening out, a week-end get-away, or a wedding."
